After spending part of the day in Ruidoso, we headed down to Alamogordo to see White Sands. I didn’t know what to expect here, but it was one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. It felt great knowing all of our work, determination, and perseverance paid off. We were rewarded with one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. It’s moments like these when things seems to click and everything seems right in the world. These are the moments I live for.
The odds were against us, yet we pushed through and overcame. What I learned from this trip is that your quality of life isn’t determined by your experiences, but how you react to them. If there’s something happening to you that you don’t like, do something about it.
The morning after the eclipse, we made our way to White Sands. While passing through Hondo, NM, a small cemetery caught my eye. We pulled over and went to go explore. Almost immediately after entering the cemetery I was drawn to a particular head stone. It had eagle wings on it, similar to the Harley Davidson emblem. Walter B. was a fellow Harley rider. We felt an instant connection. On his grave stone was a fitting quote which intrigued us,
“As we ride through this life that some don’t understand, It takes a special person and only some can. It brings us together as only our brothers understand.”
